Miss Grand International 2025: Palestine's Yara Bishi showcases meaningful Dove of Peace national costume

Miss Grand International 2025: Palestine's Yara Bishi showcases meaningful Dove of Peace national costume

Miss Grand Palestine Yara Bishi's national costume for the 2025 competition was a symbolic creation that served as a powerful voice of identity, resilience, and hope.

Called the "Dove of Peace," the look was designed by Palestinian designers Lauren Imseeh and Edmon Imseeh, in collaboration with Hisham Anabtawi.

The costume's design served as a comprehensive visual narrative, starting with its foundational color.

Yara wrote on Instagram that the base of the dress is white, "symbolizing the peace that Palestinians have long wished for but have never fully received."

The design prominently features traditional tatreez (Palestinian embroidery), incorporating motifs inspired by patterns collected from various Palestinian cities.

Central to the costume's message is a 3D-printed pigeon, which is prominently featured alongside black olive branches.

The pigeon is intended to be a powerful symbol representing peace, resistance, and resilience, while the inclusion of the black olive branches carried dual meaning, representing both the rootedness of the land and the "dark grief of the present moment."

Completing the dramatic ensemble is a long cape, which is designed to represent strength and dignity.

Written on the cape is the powerful message: Pray for peace.

"Every detail of this dress was designed and produced locally in Palestine, making it not only a fashion statement but also a voice of identity, resilience, and hope," Yara said.

Meanwhile, the Philippines is represented by Emma Tiglao, whose national costume took inspiration from the Kapampangan goddess of the moon, Mayari.
