8k Capiz residents affected by Ramil receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation
Eight thousand residents in Sigma and Panitan, Capiz affected by Tropical Storm Ramil received assistance from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to “24 Oras,” Friday, among those affected by the storm were bamboo furniture makers from Barangay Mangoso in Sigma.
One of them, Rosana Ajino, said she normally earns around P500 per sala set but had to stop production due.
“Halos lahat ng yari namin ng mga sala set, standby po talaga. Pagka nag-ano po ‘yung bagyo at saka ‘yung baha dito sa amin, talagang wala po kaming makukunan ng makakain namin tulad ng mga gamit sa mga eskwelahan ng mga bata kasi ito po ‘yung aming hanapbuhay talaga dito e,” she said.
The 8,000 individuals received food packs from GMA Kapuso Foundation.
“More or less ha nasa 380 millimeter ‘yung rainfall na binagsak dito sa Capiz. It's equivalent for one month eh na rainfall. Nagpapasalamat kami sa GMA Kapuso Foundation sa pagpunta niyo dito. Kahit papaano, isang araw o dalawang araw, naibsan po ‘yung gutom ng mga tao dito,” Sigma information officer Speed Pelaez said.
For those who are interested in helping, GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
