Dionela to donate all concert proceeds to victims of Typhoon Uwan

Rising OPM star Dionela is donating all of his concert proceeds to the victims of Typhoon Uwan.

The "Marilag" singer made the announcement through an Instagram story featuring a photo of himself holding a white board.

"My first major concert is happening on November 21 and 22 and I'm beyond grateful that tickets are almost sold out, with just a few seats," Dionela said.

According to Dionela, he "made a decision that God impressed upon his heart," which is to donate everything he will earn from the concert to help the victims of the recent typhoon.

"The Concert is called 'The Grace Tour' and I guess this is what grace is all about," he wrote.

Uwan made landfall on Sunday night over Dinalungan, Aurora and exited the Luzon landmass early Monday morning.

The super typhoon caused infrastructure damage and power outages in various areas. Two people were also reported killed in Viga, Catanduanes and Catbalogan City, Samar due to Uwan, per the Office of Civil Defense on Monday.

Meanwhile, a total of 1.4 million people or 426,000 families were preemptively evacuated in Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Negros Island Region, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.

At 4 p.m. on Monday, Uwan was located 175 km west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, carrying maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 150 km/h, and was moving northwestward at 10 km/h, according to PAGASA.

Based on the state weather bureau's 5 p.m. cyclone bulletin, Signal No. 1 was hoisted over the northwestern portion of Camarines Sur (Sipocot, Libmanan, Lupi, Del Gallego, Ragay, Cabusao). —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA Integrated News
