Nawat Itsaragrisil files criminal complaint vs. Miss Universe 2025 Fatima Bosch
Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of the host committee of the 74th Miss Universe, has filed a criminal complaint against Miss Universe 2025 winner Fatima Bosch over her false allegations.
According to a statement issued by Miss Universe Thailand via Facebook on Wednesday, the complaint is in relation to the interaction between Itsaragrisil and Bosch during a Miss Universe pre-pageant incident on November 4. The complaint against Bosch was filed in Thailand on November 12.
The statement clarified that Itsaragrisil never called Bosch a "dumbhead" during their exchange, which led to her and several contestants walking out of the room.
"What he said was 'damage,' which is clearly audible in the voice recordings that have already been widely circulated across various platforms," the statement said. "The said sentence 'If you follow the order from your national director you’re damage, if you not you can do it. I very happy and the good report will go to organize...'"
Per the statement, Bosch walked out of the room and "immediately made a false accusation in front of the media by publicly claiming otherwise."
"Even after she later became aware of the facts, she did not apologize to Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil. Instead, she continued to falsely accuse him in multiple interviews, seemingly for personal gain and to justify herself throughout the competition—after which she was ultimately crowned Miss Universe, as everyone is aware," it said.
"Furthermore, despite already holding the title, Ms. Fatima Bosch has continued to give interviews misrepresenting the incident, repeatedly defaming Mr. Nawat across various media channels."
The statement also noted that additional legal action shall be taken "if any further defamatory actions are discovered."
"We request that all media outlets exercise caution when reporting this matter and refrain from cooperating with or amplifying Ms. Fatima’s false allegations. Failure to do so may result in legal action against such media entities as co-conspirators in defamation," it added.
It can be remembered that Miss Universe Mexico released a statement in defense of Bosch following the pre-pageant incident between her and Itsaragrisil, where it called what happened "unacceptable."
Itsaragrisil later issued an apology for the incident via a livestream.
The Miss Universe Organization then restricted Itsaragrisil's participation in the pageant following the incident.
The Miss Universe 2025 pageant culminated in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 21, where it had been hit by controversies one after another. Mexico's Bosch went on to win the Miss Universe 2025 crown, while Philippine bet Ahtisa Manalo was named 3rd runner-up.
