Nawat Itsaragrisil apologizes for recent Miss Universe issues

Miss Universe Thailand National Director Nawat Itsaragrisil has apologized for the recent disruption in the pageant.

Reposting the video by Bunda Latinas on his Instagram Stories, Nawat said, “If anyone feeling not good, if anyone not comfortable, if anyone [affected], I do apologize for everyone.”

“But I did talk, apologize to the rest of the girls in the room. Around 75 girls in the room already," he added.

According to Nawat, he always tries to give "five-star service."

"I prepare everything for everybody, every country, that I wish to make history of Miss Universe 74 with the organization. This is my dream," he said.

Telling the public that in every announcement is "not false," the pageant executive considered that "maybe they’re [the delegates] confused when they read the announcement from MU and what I want to do. Very complicated.”

Nawat said that to solve the problem, he will meet with the Miss Universe Organization directly in Thailand.

“Because no one has authority in Miss Universe in Thailand now,” and that he will ask for one CEO to work urgently in the country.

In a follow-up post on Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Nawat explained that he tried his best to organize activities and be "fair" to everyone in the pageant.

"But it's difficult to control because of the daily events. Being posted about has made it harder for people to access the beauty queens," he wrote in Thai, as translated into English by Google Translate.

He apologized anew to fans of Miss Universe, adding, "My patience has limits."

"I apologize again if I made anyone uncomfortable while watching Universe this time," he added.

In a video posted by Miss Universe Thailand on Tuesday, Nawat was seen having an exchange with someone off-screen and later calling security.

Later, Miss Universe Mexico released a statement about their candidate, Fatima Bosch, and said what happened to her in Thailand is "unacceptable."

"No woman, under any circumstance, deserves to be insulted or humiliated," Miss Universe Mexico added in Spanish, as translated in English by Instagram.

Meanwhile, reigning Miss Universe Victoria Victoria Kjær Theilvig said she is proud of Fatima.

In an Instagram story, the Danish beauty queen said that standing up for oneself is one of the most important acts of self-respect and strength you can show.

The MUO released a statement reaffirming their commitment to work with the host community, the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI), and all local partners to ensure the continued success of the 74th Miss Universe competition.

They also said that a high-level delegation, led by the MUO Chief Executive Officer Mario Búcaro, is traveling to Thailand "to strengthen collaboration with the host country, MGI, and relevant authorities."

This is not the first issue that occurred in the Miss Universe competition this year.

On Sunday, Miss Universe Thailand's (MUT) official social media pages posted about a "Special Dinner & Talk Show," encouraging netizens to vote for Miss Universe candidates through Facebook and Instagram likes and shares.

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) slammed the event and said, "such initiatives do not represent the values, operations, or official activities of the Miss Universe Organization."

MUT stood their ground, as MUO reiterated there were only four official competition stages.

The Miss Universe 2025 pageant is scheduled to be held on November 21. Ahtisa Manalo will vie for the Philippines' fifth crown.

Nawat's apology has been reposted by pageant pages since. Watch it below:
