GMA Network wins big at first-ever Tagak TV Awards

GMA Network won several awards at the first-ever Tagak TV Awards of the University of Makati.

According to Vonne Aquino’s report on “24 Oras" Tuesday, the flagship newscast was awarded Excellence and Innovation in Interactive Digital Journalism, while Mel Tiangco was named Most Innovative News Anchor.

“Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” was honored with the Excellence and Innovation in Technology-Enhanced Educational Programming Award. Soho was also awarded Most Innovative Host.

Meanwhile, “Maria Clara at Ibarra” was given the Excellence and Innovation in Transformative Narrative Drama award, whereas its lead stars, Barbie Forteza and David Licauco, won Most Innovative Love Team.

“Family Feud” was also awarded Excellence and Innovation in Gamified Knowledge and Entertainment, while Dingdong Dantes was named the Most Innovative Host.

“The Voice Philippines” was likewise given the Excellence and Innovation in Talent Discovery award, and Paolo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin of Ben&Ben were named the Most Innovative Coach Duo.

“It’s Showtime” received the Excellence and Innovation in Interactive Entertainment award, while Vice Ganda won the Excellence and Innovation in Interactive Entertainment Hosting award.

Grade 11 students from the University of Makati created the awardees’ trophies, each carrying its own meaning in terms of innovation and media representation. —Nika Roque/CDC, GMA News
