Metro Manila Pride announces venue for march, festival

Metro Manila Pride just shared more details about its upcoming march and festival happening on June 27.

Titled "Bukas, Atin. Atin ang Kasaysayan. Atin ang Bukas," it's happening at the Remedios Circle in Malate, Manila, from 10 a.m. onwards.

The performers and program flow are yet to be announced.

"Bitbit natin ang pananabik na makita kayong muli sa lansangan, tangan ang may kuwentong kailangang isigaw patungo sa mga puwang na kailangang bawiin," Metro Manila Pride said on Instagram.

"Narinig natin ang ating komunidad. The narrative has officially shifted: we are no longer seeking mere acceptance. We are demanding absolute ownership of our history and our future. We are taking over," it added.

Metro Manila Pride is returning its march after a two-year break.

"Dalawang taong paghihintay. Dalawang taon ng pag-ipon ng lakas. Sa wakas, magkakasama muli tayo, para angkinin ang bukas," the organization said.

Meanwhile, another Pride march and festival is happening on June 27. "LoveL4ban," organized by Pride PH, will be held for the fourth time.

An annual celebration, Pride Month in June serves to empower the Filipino LGBT+ community by creating spaces where their identities are celebrated, stories are respected, and their rights are recognized. It is also a protest against the abuse and injustices the community faces.
