GMA Kapuso Foundation has extended its help to a total of 1,200 individuals affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in General Santos City, Mindanao.

According to “24 Oras” on Tuesday, resident Karen Dalaguit’s home was damaged by the earthquake, with one wall completely collapsing and the bathroom wall lifting off its foundation. She also expressed concern for her 71-year-old father.

“Natakot kasi andito 'yung papa ko tapos nasa work ako. Nasa isip ko 'yung tatay ko,” Karen said.

Resident Cheza Joy Tubar’s home was also damaged

“May klase kaya maaga 'yung mga anak ko gumising papuntang school. Kasi kung walang klase, sigurado may isa sa amin talaga mawala nung time na 'yun,” she said.

Because of the fear of aftershocks, both families have resorted to temporarily sleeping under a tree.

Upon arriving in General Santos City, the GMA Kapuso Foundation witnessed the extent of the earthquake's destruction, but immediately mobilized assistance.

The foundation, together with the Universal Guardian Brotherhood - RGI Alakdan GenSan, repacked goods and distributed food packs to 1,200 individuals in Sitio Intake in Barangay Mabuhay.

GMA Kapuso Foundation continues its Operation Bayanihan project to provide aid to communities affected by the earthquake.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, Shopee, and Palawan Pay. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
