Joy Barcoma explains Miss Philippines Earth farewell walk issue

Joy Barcoma told her side of the story on why she was unable to do her farewell walk as Miss Philippines Earth.

On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Wednesday, Joy said flights, accommodations, and her makeup artist were already booked for the coronation night in Bukidnon, and she was also in contact with the pageant's manager for months.

"On the day of the flight ng lahat ng queens except me, I was told na huwag na 'kong tumuloy because my presence was no longer needed," the beauty queen said.

She said she respected that decision and she was not the type to question things.

Joy also said that she was told there would be no farewell walk for all the reigning queens, but later learned that she was the only queen who would not have farewell walk.

"In the beginning naman po, wala talaga silang farewell walk. And then sabi nila, sana magkaroon sila ng farewell walk," Joy said. "And I was also praying with them na sana meron kasi sayang, nandiyan na kayo, sayang 'yung moment, sayang 'yung production."

Joy said the other reigning queens communicated this to the owner of Miss Philippines Earth, Lorraine Schuck, and it was granted to them.

When asked if she felt bad that missed the farewell walk, Joy said she felt sad instead.

"Of course, I was saddened at first kasi parang lahat naman po ng beauty queen, 'yun ang ni-lo-look forward. Na ito na 'yung end of my reign, this is like the mark of the end of you know, the end of my responsibilities, my commitment, and also my legacy," she said.

"Pero inisip ko na lang siya on a positive note, hindi nagtapos 'yung responsibilidad ko. Hindi natapos ang pagiging Miss Philippines Earth ko," she added.

Joy was also asked about a post from Miss Philippines Earth Brand Manager Astrud Schuck about breaching contracts.

The beauty queen and host said she did not see the post as they were not friends on Facebook, but she was told about it by friends.

"Ako po 'yung tipo na tao na hindi nag-de-dwell sa mga bagay na hindi naman direkta para sa 'kin," Joy said. "If it's for me, then it's up to the organization to bring it up to me as well."

Joy felt that the post was for her, but she does not know if she breached her contract as it was not communicated to her.

"A lot of people are asking questions bakit wala ako dun and maybe that's the answer," she said. "Wala po talagang conversation na nangyari between me and the organization kung may na-breach akong contract."

Joy said she sent a message to Lorraine saying that it is OK if she is no longer needed on coronation night. She said the message was seen but she did not get a reply.

"Wala naman po akong sama ng loob sa organization," she said.

A manager from the organization also reached out to Joy and thanked her for her reign and contributions.

Meanwhile, Joy was able to do a farewell walk at "Unang Hirit," LoveL4ban, and "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."

Joy was crowned Miss Philippines Earth in August 2025. She finished her Miss Earth journey in the Top 8 of the global competition.
