Troy Montero condemns 'Machong Chismisan's' remarks about Kris Aquino's son Josh

Troy Montero spoke up about the recent issue of making fun of people with special needs, as a father to a child with autism.

In an Instagram statement, the actor said that "there is nothing funny about bullying" and calling it "dark humor" is not an excuse for the hurt it causes.

Troy's youngest child with Aubrey Miles, Rocket, has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in 2022.

"People with special needs may already face challenges while navigating everyday life. The last thing they deserve is to be made fun of, singled out, or treated differently for something that is beyond their control," he said.

"I feel a responsibility to speak up, not only for my own child, but for every person with special needs who may not yet have the voice or ability to stand up for themselves," he added. "We should be teaching our children empathy, kindness, and acceptance, not making anyone feel that being different is something to be ashamed of."

Troy did not name names, but his statement comes after the hosts of the "Machong Chismisan" podcast drew criticism for the remarks they made about Kris Aquino's son, Josh, who is on the spectrum.

Several celebrities, including Boy Abunda and Dingdong Dantes, as well as lawmakers and advocacy groups, have expressed support for Josh and condemned the remarks. They also called for greater respect and understanding toward persons with disabilities.

Kris said the statements made on the podcast were "irresponsible and uninformed opinions."

The podcast later issued apologies and removed the episode and related clips. The Pod Network also terminated their contract with "Machong Chismisan."
