How a heartbroken Cebuana met her own ‘Vin Diesel’

Reeling from a bad breakup, a Cebuana made her singing career her only focus. Ironically, that's when she found true love.

Through social media, Angelica Libodlibod met American Bryan Howell.

Bald, tall and with attractive eyes, the Florida native bears a striking resemblance to Hollywood actor star Vin Diesel. Instantly, he became Angelica's leading man.

"Nakita ko 'yung profile niya. Ang taas-taas ng description niya. Businessman [daw] siya," Angelica said in an episode of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.

Angelica said Bryan was skeptical at first: "Akala niya scammer ako, akala niya bakla ako or what kasi hindi ako nagpapakita ng face ko."

Angelica admitted that she likes foreigners. Even though her last foreign boyfriend was proven to be unfaithful, it didn't stop her from falling in love with Bryan.

Bryan, a divorcee with four children, said he found in Angelica "a certain level of maturity."

"When I started chatting with her (Angelica), I saw a certain level of maturity," he said. "We clicked, we connected."

Both Angelica and Bryan said they would miss each other on times when they couldn't chat online.

Eventually, tired of communicating only through the Internet, the two decided to meet personally. This entailed Bryan flying from the US to Cebu in August 2017 to formally court the Filipina.

"When I saw her, everybody else disappeared. Any of the distraction, it was all gone. I was so focused on her," Bryan said.

Recalling the first time she saw him in personal, Angelica said, "Speechless ako sa airport. Ang guwapo naman, ang puti."

It didn't take long for Angelica's parents to give their blessings to the two lovebirds.

Everything became formal when, in October last year, outside a mall in Hong Kong, Bryan proposed to Angelica.

"Nanginginig talaga ako nun kasi, before I said yes, nag-ask talaga ako sa kanya. 'Did you ask permission to my parents?' And he said, 'Yes, it's all done.'"
