Jehza Huelar reveals it was her fiance who encouraged her to join this year's Bb. Pilipinas pageant
Miss Supranational Philippines 2018 Jehza Huelar revealed that it was her fiance, basketball star PJ Simon who pushed her to join the Binibining Pilipinas pageant once again this year.
"Even from the beginning kasi, he's very supportive, I know everybody is aware of it kasi siya 'yong reason kung bakit sumali ako sa Binibini this year. He was the one who pushed me to join Binibini," Jehza told reporters at her send-off party on Tuesday at Novotel, Quezon City.

The beauty queen has a similar story with Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, who both only earned a title and crown in the Binibining Pilipinas competition on their third try.
After years of joining the pageant, Jehza said she is confident that like Pia, she will take home the international crown for the Philippines — and that her fiance PJ will be waiting for her.
Jehza is set to compete in the Miss Supranational pageant in Kyrnica-Zdroj, Poland on December 7.
"It was a commitment na he will support me no matter what, so kung 'etong Miss Supranational mananalo tayo dito — and I know mananalo tayo dito — I know he will wait for me and he will support me all the way."
When asked if they are already planning to tie the knot after the pageant, she said they will talk about the specifics after Miss Supranational.
"Right now, we don't actually have any plan with our wedding date and where it's gonna happen, although nag-uusap usap kami with the guests, the usual thing 'yong mga expectations. But [it is] still on hold pa, 'yong plans namin with the wedding. The priority now is Miss Supranational and whatever the result is siguro d'on pa namin pag-uusapan," she said.
Insecurities turned into strengths
Jehza used to be insecure about her body which she said wasn't "beauty queen material," but now she said she worked hard to improve herself which made her more confident.
"Maybe the number one thing na talagangn sobrang insecure ako sa sarili ko my body. It is not a beauty queen material type, kasi when you say beauty queen voluptous, perfect body, but I worked my way para ma-improve 'yong sarili ko. I work out a lot. 'Yon talagang binigyan ko ng oras para mag-improve ang sarili ko, 'yong katawan ko na somehow close to being a beauty queen body," she shared.
Apart from working hard to improve herself, she said she accepted that everyone has different body types and that imperfections is what makes a person perfect.
"Right now I can say na-overcome ko 'yon and I'm more confident and we have different body types and we need to understand that, and we need to respect each other by looking at the person na hindi talaga lahat perfect, kasi 'yong imperfections natin, that's what makes us perfect," she said.
She strongly believes her brand new confidence will earn her the crown.
"I can say that I'm more confident than before and this confidence will bring me to get the crown Miss Supranational 2018," she confidently remarked.
Where she gets her strengths
Seeing her pageant sisters compete for their respective pageants internationally only strengthened and inspired her to do more when her time comes.
"Based on the results of this year's pageants, parang nagbibigay 'yon sa 'kin ng strength to do more. Because alam mo 'yong gusto mong ipaglaban 'yong Pilipinas talaga to take home the crown."
She said she asks her pageant sisters about their own learning and experiences so she could learn from it and apply them using her own strategy on her upcoming pageant.
"So these past pageants, Miss Globe, Miss Grand even Miss International naba-balanse mo 'yong sarili mo kung saan ka lu-lugar. So based from their experiences, tinatanong namin sila how was it and what their learnings are, na puwede naming i-apply sa sarili naming pageant. 'Yon ginagamit namin with our strategy for competing with our pageant."
Another strength she has is her late father who dreamed to see her join beauty pageants.
"'Yong unang strength ko... it was my dad's dream [for me to join beauty pageants]. Never in my wildest dreams [did I think] that I would join a beauty pageant so when my dad passed away, his only request is for me to join the beauty pageant. I feel when I join a beauty pageant, I know he sees it even if he's not here anymore," she said.
Jehza earned the second-runner up title when she first joined Binibining Pilipinas in 2016, in 2017 she only made it to the top 15, she only earned a title on her third try in 2018 earning the Binibing Pilipinas Supranational 2018 title.
