SHE’S 44, HE’S 28

How she found love again after a failed marriage

Here’s a heart-warming tale about a second chance at love.

When her marriage failed after 17 years, Yvette decided to focus all her energy and attention to her work.

And when her work couldn’t mask the loneliness she felt, the 44-year-old mother of four decided to go back to her first love: Theater.

It was where she met Jessie, 16 years her junior.

Jessie was a certified ladies’ man, but there was something with Yvette. He broke up with his girlfriend, and pursued a relationship with Yvette. Three months later, they were officially together.

“Hindi ko naisip na I’ll have a relationship with someone younger, but since dumating, I embraced it, and I’m very grateful,” Yvette said on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.

Jessie meanwhile said it was his being a millennial that pushed him to pursue someone with quite a history. “Part ng pagiging millennial. I just took the risk,” he said.

With Yvette’s marriage finally annulled, the two are now living together — and learning how to live with the age difference and its petty manifestations. We mean: Yvette’s penchant for White Flower, for instance, and Jessie’s massive liking for gel.

But there is also the serious aspect to it, like the acceptance of Yvette’s children. Her eldest, after all is just six years younger than her boyfriend. According to Jessie, earning the accept of Yvette's children os the most difficult thing he's had to experience.

"Wag matakot to be in love with somebody younger," Yvette said. "Hindi 'yan kasalanan. Love itself is not a sin." — LA, GMA News
