Michelle Dee shares Melanie Marquez' advice for Miss World: 'Stay true to who you are'

Michelle Dee is on her way to compete for the title of Miss World this coming December, and during her send-off Wednesday at the Nanka Japanese Steakhouse in Quezon City, the Kapuso talent shared her mother's pieces of advice.

"She always believed that you should always be yourself, that you should be genuine...she never told me to be fake. That's a big no-no because you are trying to be yourself and be awarded for being yourself," Michelle said.

"She already emphasized to staying true to who you are because then the world will notice and give you credit for that," the Kapuso talent continued.

Michelle added that her mom even helps her become a lighter person. "People say na I have a serious facade. Tinutulungan niya ako to just have fun," Michelle added.

Because of her goal to stay true to herself, Michelle also shared that she's very hands-on with every part of her performance, from her evening gown to her hair and makeup.

"I really want to showcase my personality. I don't want to go to London not feeling like myself," the beauty queen said. "I want people to say na, 'Oh that's still Michelle. She's not trying to be somebody else. She's trying to shine as her own.'"
Michelle is set to fly off to London, United Kingdom on November 19 where the 69th Miss World will be held.

According to Michelle, Melanie, who was also crowned as Miss International 1979, has already reviewed Michelle's walk and talent. She's even talked to countless designers for Michelle as a way to show her all-out support.

The Miss World 2019 will be telecast live via satellite on GMA 7 on December 14 at 10pm. — LA, GMA News
