Community spirit fueling change in this township
A community in Cavite is leading the way in showing what can be done when people work together. Sports fests, creative and songwriting workshops, art classes, leadership trainings, and faith life programs were just some of the activities successfully organized by residents of Lancaster New City through GalingLNC for their community.

“GalingLNC is the fruit of the shared dream of Lancaster New City homeowners and the PRO-FRIENDS management for a thriving, family-friendly community where their children can give and live their best life,” said Issa Cuevas-Santos, Head of the Community and Culture Development Group of Property Company of Friends, Inc. (Pro-Friends).
GalingLNC, coined by an LNC resident (or LNCitizens as they are called) is an on-ground movement which hopes to enable residents to shape and share their community culture through the promotion of health, wellness, and positive social values. “Hence, the double meaning of Galing which means excellence and to come from. We want LNCitizens to be proud of their community because it will be a hub of excellence and a place where future leaders are molded.” added Santos.
The movement is powered by volunteers and community leaders. It currently focuses on six programs— Sports and Wellness, Entrepreneurship, Music and Arts, Education and Life Skills, the Environment, and Faith Life and Service.

Among its most recent activities include the indoor movie screening and fireworks display that attracted throngs of people to the township. For 2020, GalingLNC has four major projects for various sectors of the community, including a Music and Arts Academy for the youth and a music festival.
“2020 should be the most exciting year yet for GalingLNC,” said Santos. Alabfest for the youth is slated in February 2020 while the first-ever LNC Festival Malabay is scheduled for June. The annual Kids and Family Fair and the GalingLNC Homeowners Night will be in October and December respectively.
“We also hope to continue our Kabayanihan initiatives, serving not just our own community but the areas near LNC and the rest of the country, when the need arises,” the executive said.
LNC is a thriving community. Currently, it is home to 18,617 households and is projected to increase by 3,000 by the end of 2019 putting the number of residents to 84,108. About 30% of the residents are children below 18 years old.
