PWD bride cries tears of joy after seeing wheelchair-friendly wedding dress
A bride-to-be could not help but cry tears of joy after seeing her wedding gown especially designed for wheelchair users like her.
Lyza Queen Escala, a person with a disability, initially thought she could not wear a "big" wedding dress because she could not walk down the aisle.
But Filipina designer Bea Balajadia did her magic and customized a bridal dress which featured a long train that did not get in the way of Lyza's wheelchair.
"Sobrang nalulungkot ako kasi gustong gusto ko maglakad kahit mismong araw ng kasal. Milagro kung mangyari 'yun. I hated the fact that I have no choice but to be in a wheelchair," Lyza wrote in a Facebook post.
But her sadness turned to happiness when she saw the finished gown and fell in love with it. That was when decided to accept herself for who she is.
She also shared that she felt "very comfortable" in her dress and didn't slip in her chair while wearing it on her special day.
Speaking to GMA News, Lyza said that she hopes that her story would inspire people with disabilities (PWDs) to remember that their condition should not prevent them from finding happiness. —Angelica Y. Yang/MGP, GMA News
