Pixar features its first gay lead character in short animated film ‘Out’
Pixar Animation Studios will be featuring its first gay main character in a short animated film titled “Out.”
“Out” will be released under Pixar’s SparkShorts and it has already been launched on Disney+.
In the trailer, lead character Greg is seen practicing his lines to his dog while he holds a picture frame with a photo of himself and his boyfriend Manuel as he prepares to come out to his parents.
His rehearsal was cut short when his parents suddenly paid him a surprise visit, which would eventually lead to Greg’s revelation to them.
According to a report on Deadline, the 9-minute long “Out” is one of the seven animated movies in the SparkShorts program.

Although the “Toy Story” franchise and this year’s “Onward” featured minor gay characters, the report said “Out” was the first Pixar film to have a same-sex couple starring as the lead characters. – Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/RC, GMA News
