Woman goes viral for touching post reminding netizens to appreciate time left with parents

With all the uncertainty around us amid the coronavirus pandemic, many people have begun to realize what is truly important in their lives.

Take for example Christie Lindog, whose touching post about a recent encounter with her parents went viral.

Christie said one day after work, her father invited her over their house to have some pancit and empanadas. She declined and told him "maybe next time."

"Admittedly, I get busy and take for granted the time I have left with my parents. I brush them off with excuses of being too tired, having work the next day, or already having plans," she said.

Her dad said it was fine and held on to her word, but he then texted her a photo of her mother looking sad while sitting in front of the food.

"Appreciate the time we have left with our parents or family because life is short and uncertain." Ito ang na-realize...

"My heart is crushed. And I immediately realize that the noodles, the empanadas, and every other food mom has made was not just a dish she wanted to share but her own excuse to see us," she said.

"And here I was, giving the lamest excuses not to see her and dad," she continued.

After that realization, Christie left in the next 15 minutes to enjoy a meal with her parents.

"Just a reminder to appreciate the time we have left with our parents/family because life is short and uncertain. We should never be too tired for empanadas," she said. —Jannielyn Bigtas/MGP, GMA News
