Gardo Versoza’s home was not destroyed in typhoon, wife clarifies

Gardo Versoza’s house was not among those destroyed due to the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, contrary to news reports published by several news outlets earlier this month.

It started Nov. 15 when the actor shared a photo of an empty house with dilapidated floors and ceilings.

“Aaaaayyyyyy … our house,” Gardo wrote, without saying the house was destroyed in the typhoon.

According to a PEP.ph report on Wednesday, the actor’s wife Ivy clarified in an exclusive interview that the photo he posted showed their ancestral house, which is located near their current home.

The wife said the house in the photo had been in a state of damage prior to the typhoon that swept across Luzon on Nov. 13.

“’Yung ancestral house nina Gardo, katabi lang ng bahay namin at for renovation talaga siya this December,” Ivy was quoted as saying.

“Ang post lang ni Gardo was, ‘haaaaayyyyy our house,’ kasi nga naka-ready na siya, andiyan na yung ibang mga materyales para sa renovation, tapos biglang bumagyo,” she added.

PEP.ph said the couple expressed dismay over the false news reports, saying the concerned organizations published their stories without proper verification.

“Noong una, ayaw na namin palakihin. Sabi ni Gardo, ‘hayaan mo na lang,’” Ivy said.

“Pero nagulat na lang kami dahil pati ang online news ng mga TV network at radio stations, inilabas din ang balita na walang interbyu sa amin,” she added.

Thousands of people were displaced after Typhoon Ulysses swept across Luzon with heavy rains and severe flooding.
