Paul Salas shares the advice he received from his Tito Dingdong Dantes
Paul Salas has revealed that he looks up to his Tito Dingdong Dantes, especially when it comes to being an actor.
In an interview with GMA News Online during a press conference on Thursday, Paul said he considered the Kapuso Primetime King one of his mentors in the showbiz industry.
“’Yung tips na nabigay niya more about sa personal life kaysa work … kung paano i-handle ’yung time, paano i-handle ’yung time sa family, sa sarili, at sa work,” he said.
[The tips he gave me were more about personal life than work … how to handle time, time with family, for myself, and for work.]
Paul shared that he had a long and deep private talk with his real-life uncle Dingdong, who gave him advice on how to manage his time.
The actor said his uncle’s advice to him was to simply do good in his craft.
“Kumbaga every show, dapat nag-improve ako. Nakikita naman daw niya ’yung growth ko as an actor and proud naman daw siya sa ’kin, so nagpapasalamat naman ako doon. Laging nasa mind ko ’yung mga [advice] niya sa ’kin.”
[He said I should improve with every show. He can see my growth as an actor and he’s proud of me, so I’m thankful for that. His pieces of advice are always in my mind.]
Paul’s father is Jim Salas, a member of Universal Motion Dancers, and his mother is Michelle Solinap, a cousin of Dingdong.
He had worked with Dingdong in the Philippine adaptation of “Descendants of the Sun.”
Paul stars as Frank in “The Lost Recipe,” which also features Kelvin Miranda, Mikee Quintos, and Thea Tolentino.
The show’s final episode will air on March 31. – RC, GMA News
