Julia Barretto on girls making the first move: ‘I think it’s okay but…’
Julia Barretto thinks "it's okay" for girls to "make the first move."
The 24-year-old actress, who just went public with her relationship with Gerald Anderson, opened up about the topic with her friend Marco Gumabao in a YouTube vlog she posted last March 27.
“I feel like it doesn’t matter who expresses first. I think it’s okay when a girl lets you know how she feels, whether it’s reciprocated or not," Julia said.
"But definitely, I believe that guys should be the one pursuing. At the same time, I don’t mind if a girl makes the first move,” she added.
When Marco seemed to ask if Julia was taking off from a personal experience, the actress simply cited some words she heard from a pastor that she said really "stuck with her."
"Personally, ang sinasabi ko lang, walang problema kung yung babae, let's say ang unang mag-express ng feelings, di ba? Whether or not reciprocated (All I'm saying is: There's no problem with a girl expressing her feelings, whether they be reciprocated or not)," Julia said.
"There was this one service [wherein the pastor said], 'It's okay. If the girl tells you she loves you first, so what?' Like, it doesn't matter and I think that stuck with me, and it made me realize a lot of things, she added.
"So 'yun. Well ako ok lang (That's it. Well, it's okay for me)," she said.
For the entire vlog, Julia and Marco talked about topics that guys and girls usually "have a different opinion on."
The two, however, stated during the intro that each of them would only be giving their personal opinion on each matter, and would not be speaking for everyone.
"We have to make it clear na I don't speak for all the women. This is gonna be my personal opinion... Ayaw ko naman sabihin ng iba na: 'Hindi naman 'yung take ko eh', (I don't want others to say, 'Hey, that's not my take on it)," Julia said.
Julia Barretto's personal life has been a hot topic this month after she and Gerald Anderson went public with their relationship.
Julia posted a couple photo with Gerald on social media, while the 32-year-old actor told Boy Abunda in a tell-all interview that he was “very happy” with the 24-year-old actress. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
