Luane Dy reveals what it’s like to give birth amid pandemic
Luane Dy revealed the hardships she encountered after she gave birth to baby Christ during the first few months of the coronavirus disease pandemic.
During a press conference on Friday, the “Unang Hirit” host said she felt scared during that time because the pandemic was just starting and people were still learning about COVID-19.
“Sobra ’yung takot namin ... dami ko pang complications along the way,” Luane said.
[Our fear was intense ... I also had a lot of complications along the way.]
She said after giving birth alone, she had to recover quickly so she could be discharged from the hospital as soon as possible.
“Giving birth alone, wala ka mahingahan (you have no one to vent to),” Luane said.
She said because of the complications along the way, she had to undergo an emergency C-section. Within 12 hours of giving birth, she had to be able to stand, walk, pass water, and defecate to confirm that her internal organs were functioning properly. Twenty-four hours later, she went home.
Luane said she finally felt safe and at peace when she got home.
“Pinakamasarap na parte na ’yun, ’yung nasa bahay ka na, nayayakap mo na ’yung baby mo. Inaalagaan ka ng buong pamilya mo,” she said.
[That’s the best part, when you’re at home, you can finally hug your baby. The whole family is taking care of you.]
“I felt safe, I felt at home.”
Luane and Carlo Gonzales, who got engaged in 2019, welcomed baby Christ in April 2020, just a month after the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic.
Last month, Luane wrote a tear-jerking letter for her son as he celebrated his first birthday. – RC, GMA News
