Catriona Gray shares ‘raw and real’ selfie as she says goodbye to family in Australia
Catriona Gray couldn’t help but feel emotional as she said goodbye to her family in Australia.
On Thursday, the Miss Universe 2018 titleholder shared an honest selfie of “what saying goodbye looks like,” with her eyes closed as she fought back tears.
“When my I said goodbye to my parents at the airport, underneath my mask I kept smiling. Although it trembled. I didn’t want them to see. We hugged saying ‘see you soon,’” she said.
“But this pandemic makes a once easy thing such an uncertainty. When? How? When will we be together again?” she continued.
According to Catriona, she didn’t want her family to see that she was in pain so she held it in until she was out of their sight. “I let the tears come.”
The beauty queen said she thought hard about posting the photo, but realized that it’s a representation of “something raw and real.”
“I’m so grateful for the time I had with my family. And now it’s back to counting down the days, the sunrises, the sleeps until we’re together again,” she said.
To end her post, Catriona reminded everyone to always make the days count and create good memories when they were with their loved ones.
“Please never take time with your family or loved ones for granted, so many of us wish to have that reality every day,” she said.
She flew to Australia last month and was able to reunite with her parents after more than a year. There, Catriona said they had the “best few days” as they went on an adventure. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
