Are Andrea Torres' parents strict about her taking sexy roles?

May it be sexy, comedy or kontrabida roles, it's no secret that Andrea Torres is one of the most versatile actresses on Philippine television.

After renewing her contract with GMA last week, the Kapuso leading lady said a special thanks to her parents for their solid support throughout her career.

Andrea shared she had once thought of giving up, but Mr. and Mrs. Torres urged her to keep going.

"It came to a point, when I wanted to be practical," she told GMA News Online in Filipino.

"When I was in college, I told myself: 'Oh, nothing is happening. Maybe I should just give up on my dream. Maybe it's really not for me'," she added.

"[My parents] were the ones who told me 'No! Keep trying. You're still young.' It was like they knew something would happen."

Andrea, whose father is a professor, said her parents' support did not waver even when she did roles that were on the "sexy" side.

"I'm very open with them and I tell them all my plans," Andrea said.

"Also, they let me decide for myself. I was allowed to make my own choices when it comes to my career, and they had real trust in me and my manager."

She added, "My parents were never the type to not be proud of what I do."

"They know that, once I do something, it's a decision that my managers and I already discussed and studied extensively, so they were just totally supportive all the way," Andrea said. — LA, GMA News
