'Hiro the Hero Dog' who rescued fellow-aspin from bolo attack gets adopted
A brave little doggo named Hiro has been adopted, after courageously saving his fellow aspin's life.
According to Pawssion Project founder Malou Perez, Hiro called for help after seeing another dog named Joey getting viciously attacked with an itak (bolo knife).
"Lumabas siya ng compound tapos nanghingi siya ng tulong sa mga tao, tapos dinirect niya doon kung nasaan si Joey," Perez told GMA News' "Unang Balita."
Luckily, Joey was still alive when he was rescued.
Perez said the aspin was critically injured, but the shelter eventually nursed him back to health and returned him to his owner.
As for Hiro, he and another rescue dog named Vica have been adopted and are set to fly to Canada.
The two are only some of more than 1,000 pets that have been rescued and cared for at Pawssion Project since it was established in 2019.
Perez encouraged everybody to do their part and help these dogs all find loving homes.
"Talagang naniniwala kami na we have to find homes for these animals," she said. "Hindi pwede na magrecue lang tao tapos ihohorde lang natin sila."
"I highly encourage everyone to consider adoption because it will really change your life... Well, hindi lang ang buhay ninyo, kung di ang buhay ng rescued animals."
For those who want to help, you can visit Pawssion Project's social media pages or their official website. Adoption is totally free, and all the animals have been vaccinated and dewormed.
