Tom Rodriguez wants to have babies with Carla Abellana 'right away'

Looks like Tom Rodriguez is excited to become a father!

The "World Between Us" star, who will tie the knot with Carla Abellana later this year, said he wants to have babies with her "right away" after the wedding.

"Gagawa kami ng baby — agad," Tom told reporters in an online media conference on Monday.

"Ni-request ko eh. Sabi ko pwede ba agad pagkatapos. [Sabi niya] Ha? Agad? Can't it be —' [Sabi ko] 'No, agad na!' He added, laughing.

"Buti napapayag ko, para maka-dalawa pa kami," he added.

[We're gonna make babies, right away! I made a request. (I asked) 'Can we have it right away?' (She said) 'Ha? Right away? Can't it be — ' (I said) 'No, right away' Good thing I got to convince her, so we can have two more]

Although he was enthusiastic about starting a family, Tom clarified that he didn't want to "pressure her into anything."

Tom also appreciated Carla's passion for her job, so he did not want to keep her from doing what she loves after the wedding.

"Bukod sa mahal na mahal ko 'yung tao, una ko siyang nakilala sa sining niya at parte na rin 'yung minahal ko sa kanya," he explained.

"So kung siya 'yung isang tao na pumukaw ng ganong passion sa sarili ko, kikitilin ko ba yun sa kanya? Na parang napaka-unfair naman na siya 'yung bumuhay sa ganong klaseng pag-appreciate sa sining na ginawa namin tapos, ako, gagawin ko sa kanya, papatigilin ko," he added.

[Apart from the fact that I love her, I first got to know her because of her craft, and it's already part of what I love about her. So, if she was the one who brought that passion out of me, why would I take it away from her? It would be so unfair if I told her to stop, especially since she was the one who brought life to that kind of appreciation for my what I do]

Nevertheless, Tom was confident that caring for a baby would not be much of a problem since both of them already experienced at staying home while the other was away at work.

"Nagkataon lang ngayon, sabay kami nagtatrabaho, pero na-experience na namin 'yung salitan kami," the actor said, referring to their recent lock-in taping schedules.

"So, kung kahit ganoon, kahit ako 'yung maiwan na kasama 'yung magiging baby namin, nagtatrabaho siya no problem we will adjust kung anuman yung itatapon ng buhay namin na mga suliranin," he added.

[It just so happened that we're both working right now (lock-in tapings) but we've both experienced taking turns. So, even if she goes to work and I stay home to take care of the baby, it's no problem. We can adjust to whatever challenges life throws our way.]

Tom asked Carla Abellana to marry him last October 2020, but only revealed it to the public in March this year.

The Kapuso actors have been together for almost seven years after playing husband and wife in GMA's hit series "My Husband's Lover" in 2013.

As of Monday's press conference, Tom said the wedding was still a go and they plan to hold it at Tagaytay Highlands on October 23. — LA, GMA News
