Jinri Park's father was a medical missionary in the Philippines for 10 years and the reason they moved to Cebu

On her father's 70th birthday, Jinri Park revealed he was a medical missionary stationed in the Philippines for more than 10 years. He gave free aid to many Filipinos, and was the reason the family moved to Cebu in 1994.

Jinri said her father is a "full time geriatrician and also a certified physical therapist." He is still working full time at a hospital, she said.

Such is her dad's dedication to his job that he "even sleeps at the hospital once a week to take care of his patients," Jinri shared.

But her father gave up his hospital job and "comfortable life to help others." Jinri shares that her father "was a medical missionary in the Philippines for more than 10 years."

"He and my mom gave free aid to many Filipinos, who couldn’t afford to go visit a doctor," she added.

"This is the reason why our family moved to Cebu in 1994," Jinri explained.

"He is my hero. I’m so proud to call him my father. I only wish to be even half the person he is! Never stop dreaming dad!! I love you so much!" she ended her note.

Jinri is Korean by blood and became a Cebu resident when she was 6 years old. As such, she considers the Philippines as her home country. She is currently residing in Sydney, Australia with her husband, John.

Just recently, Jinri got two sampaguita tattoos to forever remember her roots. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
