Father, daughter reunite after 26 years

A man and his daughter have finally reunited after 26 long years.

According to Oscar Oida’s “24 Oras” report Friday, Jane Evony Soloria couldn’t contain her emotions the first time she met her father.

“Ang hirap i-explain po, parang hihimatayin ka, parang nagsisikip na yung dibdib ko, tuwa, saya, pananabik,” she said.

Jane’s mother was still pregnant with her when she and her father Jude Barba separated.

Her mother eventually remarried and had other children, while Jane was left in the care of her aunt.

One day, Jane thought of searching for her father on Facebook. Among the search results, she said she chose the last one because the person on the photo looked old.

She asked her mother to confirm if the person was her father, but her mother did not reply.

Jane sent a message to the man anyway, and he turned out to be, in fact, her long lost dad.

“Isa lang naman po ’yung hiniling ko, magkita lang kami kahit isang beses lang,” she said.

After they met, Jude said he was not aware that his then wife, Jane’s mother, was pregnant when they broke up.

“Medyo bata pa po ako (noon) eh,” he said, adding that he used to work at a peryahan (traveling funfair) and he was deployed to Mountain Province at the time.

Jude said he had explained the situation to his family, and they had since fully accepted Jane.

The father also said he would make up for all the years they’d lost.

“Nag-uupdate ako lagi sa kanya, kahit mga konting problema lang. Kung may maitutulong po ako (sa kanya), gagawan ko ng paraan,” he said.

Jane said she knew it’s impossible for her parents to be together again, but she hoped they would be in good terms with each other.

“Kahit hindi tayo ’yung itinadhanang magkakasama, salamat pa rin po kasi kayo pa rin ’yung mga magulang ko,” she said.

“Mahal na mahal ko po kayo, sobra. Ni minsan hindi ako nagtanim ng galit.” – RC, GMA News
