A working student who had multiple jobs as a child takes top 2 spot in the Mechanical Engineer Licensure Exam

A working student who had multiple jobs as a child managed to take the top 2 spot in the Mechanical Engineer Licensure Exam.

In a report on Unang Hirit on Tuesday, Connie Sison and Susan Enriquez shared the story of Mark Allen Armenion.

The report said Mark waited two years after graduating from college before he was able to take the exam.

Mark shared that he became a working student since he was in grade school doing multiple jobs in the wet market. He said he would carry out garbage or fetch water for other people.

"Nag-start ako sa palengke nung elementary pa lang po ako kasi nga may problema yung relationship namin sa family tapos problema sa financial po so parang na-force po ako na pumunta sa palengke [para magtrabaho]," he said in an interview with Unang Hirit.

Mark said he would use the money he earned from his job at the wet market as his allowance for school.

He said there was a time when he failed in school for being absent due to problems he had at home with his family.

Despite the struggles, Mark said he worked hard to get where he is now.

When he was in 4th year college, Mark started to work as a substitute instructor in a review center in Quezon City which he said helped him achieve his top 2 spot.

"'Yun yung pinaka malaking impact sakin sa pag-review," Mark said.

Although his initial goal was to take the top spot, Mark is still overjoyed with what he was able to achieve.

"Masaya po ako ngayon and hindi pa rin po ako maka-getover kahit ilang weeks na lumabas yung result hindi pa siya nag-sink in sakin," Mark said. —JAB, GMA News.
