Kris Aquino pays tribute to dad Ninoy on his 90th birthday: 'You gave me so much of you'
Kris Aquino paid tribute to her dad, the late former senator Ninoy Aquino Jr., on his 90th birthday.
On Instagram, Monday, the television personality shared a photo of her as a child wearing a shirt printed with the face of her father.
"I only experienced having you as my dad for 3 years & 3 months from May 8, 1980 to August of 1983—yet you gave me so much of you," she began.
"In Boston you weren't a Vice Governor, Governor, Senator, or a political prisoner sentenced to death by firing squad—you were just my dad who called me 'beautiful,'" she said.
Kris reminisced about the times she bonded with her dad when the Aquino family lived in exile. She said Ninoy was the first to believe that her childhood dreams would come true.
"Dad, that's what sets you apart—your charisma came from the fact everyone who was in your company felt special; innately Ninoy Aquino knew how to make it all about others & never about himself," she said.
"Yes you were a great writer & speaker BUT more than that naka focus ka sa mga taong kaharap mo... unselfish talaga 'yung pagmamahal mo sa kapwa Pilipino."
The Aquino family marked Ninoy's 90th birthday on Sunday. A mass was held in remembrance of the late senator, who was assassinated on August 21, 1983.
Kris is currently in the United States undergoing treatment for several autoimmune diseases.
