Carla Abellana mourns pet dog who passed away 'just as my heart had started to heal'

Carla Abellana is heartbroken after her furbaby of 11 years, Patches, passed away.

The Kapuso star penned a touching Instagram post about her dog, whose “purpose was to bring light and companionship into my life.”

Carla recalled that her stepdad Neri surprised her with Patches “during a very dark period of my life[.]”

“I came home from work late one evening to see her inside a small crate,” she said. “Right there and then, [I] truly felt [I] was no longer going to be alone. I fell in love with Patchy Poo.”

After 11 years together, Carla said that Patchy had already fulfilled her purpose.

“[God] suddenly needed her back. Though [I] wasn’t even given the chance to protest, I had to respect the Lord’s painful decision to take her away from me,” Carla said.

Still processing the loss, she added, “I cannot even begin to express how painful it is to lose my Patches. Just as my heart had started to heal, it shatters yet again.”

Carla added that Patchy will forever have her heart.

“Please say hi to the two Rockys, Sunny and Wing for me,” she said. “I imagine you all running around the rainbow bridge together, and that gives me a tiny bit of comfort. I’m going to miss your big, bright, naughty smile, my Patchy.”

An animal welfare advocate and dog lover, Carla gave Patches some friends and adopted aspins in 2020.

Carla earlier got real about forgiveness, the struggles of being an actress, and finding true friends.

She is the star of "Stolen Life," the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series along with Beauty Gonzalez and Gabby Concepcion.
