'Drag Race Philippines' queen Matilduh gets surprised by mom after coming out in the show

It was an emotional Wednesday night after "Drag Race Philippines" Season 2 aired its Rusical episode.

Deedee Marie Holiday won this week's challenge and Matilduh ended her journey as an eight-placer in the competition after losing to M1ss Jade So in a lipsync battle performance of "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" by Morisette.

Before officially leaving the competition, Matilduh took the opportunity to come out to her parents in the episode after not being able to do so outside of the show.

"Ma, Pa, I'm gay, and I do drag," Matilduh said in the confessionals with teary eyes.

At a Bekenemen viewing party of Episode 5, the newly eliminated queen was surprised by her mom with an appearance and emotional speech.

"As a mother naman kasi kahit anong maging future ng anak mo, matatanggap mo maging sino man siya," Matilduh's mom said.

"Sabi niya nung last time, second year siya in-expose nung teacher niya. Hindi ko naalala 'yung part na 'yun kasi Grade 4 palang sinusumbong na siya ng teacher niya, sa loob-loob ko, 'eh ano ngayon'?" she added.

The mom also said ever since Matilduh was still a child, she already knew her sexual preferences.

"Hindi lang namin pinag-uusapan, pero, whatever, accepted naman siya and gusto ko lang sabihin na I'm proud of her," she said.

According to Matilduh, she took the opportunity to come out in "Drag Race Philippines" to reclaim her coming out story.

"Hindi ko alam na pupunta sila mama dito, pero nung umupo na ako dito, nakita ko na sila ng tita ko doon sa likod," the drag queen said.

"Tapos 'yung time na nag-out na ako sa show, humagulgol na ako kasi alam ko makikita ni mama tapos andito pa siya," she added.

Matilduh also admitted she already felt physically and mentally tired during the lipsync performance.

"At that moment, pagod na ako eh, as in hindi na lang physically, mentally, so dinala ko talaga 'yung emotions ko for that lipsync," she said.

"I hope we both gave a good lipsync performance," she added.

"Drag Race Philippines" Season 2 is now streaming on HBO GO and Wow Presents Plus.
