Year in Review: Celebrity weddings, engagements that made us believe in forever this 2023
There may have been a lot of breakups in 2023, but the year has also been filled with so much love, from show-stopping celebrity weddings to surprising engagement announcements.
From Glaiza De Castro's Filipino-themed second wedding, Bea Alonzo's straight-out-of-a-fairytale engagement, to Venus Raj's dreamy special day, here are celebrity weddings and engagements that made our hearts go "awww" this year.
Weddings: Glaiza De Castro and David Rainey
After tying the knot atop a mountain beside a castle on Northern Island in 2021, Glaiza De Castro and David Rainey got married for the second time in Zambales in January.
Glaiza wore a Filipiniana-inspired wedding gown accentuated with floral embroidery, while David sported a classic Barong Tagalog.
Sophie Albert and Vin Abrenica
In the same month, Sophie Albert and Vin Abrenica got married and used the hashtag #SoVinLoveForever.
They announced their engagement in February 2021 and then welcomed their first baby, Avianna, a month later.
Before tying the knot in Bali, Indonesia, Maja Salvador and Rambo Nunez first had an intimate civil wedding in Manila on February 14, which happens to be their fourth anniversary.
Maja wore an elegant white dress with a bow—in honor of Rambo's nickname, "Bo."
Alodia Gosiengfiao and Christopher Quimbo
Also on Valentine's Day, Alodia Gosiengfiao and Christopher Quimbo tied the knot in a grand wedding ceremony filled with flowers and glittering ceiling lights.
Alodia paired her long-sleeved wedding dress with a pair of crystalized wedding boots designed by Doreen Odvina.
Ben&Ben's Miguel Benjamin and Karelle Bulan
Miguel Benjamin of Ben&Ben married his girlfriend, Karelle Bulan, in February.
Miguel shared a dreamy photo from their wedding and wrote, "Sa hirap at ginhawa, lungkot at ligaya, ikaw ang kasama, ang aking mahiwaga."
Pia Wurtzbach and Jeremy Jauncey
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and Jeremy Jauncey tied the knot at the private North Island in Seychelles in March.
The couple first confirmed their relationship in 2020 and got engaged in 2022.
In the same month, Ejay Falcon and Jana Roxas got married at the Enderun Tent in McKinley Hills, Taguig City.
Jana wore a Mak Tumang wedding gown creation dripping with shimmering crystals, while Ejay donned a classic Francis Libiran white suit.
Dominique Cojuangco and Michael Hearn
Gretchen Barretto's daughter, Dominique Cojuangco, married businessman Michael Hearn at the San Agustin Church in Manila, wearing the same gown as South Korean star Son Ye Jin's wedding dress.
The gown was part of Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab's Spring 2022 bridal collection and featured a square neckline fully embroidered with sequins.
Speaking of South Korean stars, actors Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In also tied the knot this year!
Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In confirmed their relationship in 2021 and announced their engagement in February.
Talk about consistency. Maine Mendoza and Arjo Atayde made the date July 28 even more special by tying the knot.
On the same day last year, they announced their engagement, exactly nine years after Maine posted her iconic "Arjo cutie" tweet.
Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin
Following reports of their marriage, Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin shared a sweet Instagram video from their special day.
The longtime couple got married at the Harlekin Birtok, a wedding venue on Barbara's parents property in Hungary.
Patch Magtanong and Joshua Cordoves
Miss International Philippines 2019 Patch Magtanong and Joshua Cordoves tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in July.
Patch said that they decided to have a simple and intimate ceremony with their families first, but will also "celebrate with the rest of our family and friends next year" in a big wedding.

In August, Lovi Poe and Montgomery Blencowe tied the knot at Cliveden House in the United Kingdom.
Lovi walked down the aisle while the orchestra was playing "Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka" by Regine Velasquez.
Chris Evans and Alba Baptista tied the knot in a ceremony at a private estate in Cape Cod, Massachusetts in September.
The guest list included some of Evans' Marvel colleagues, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner, as well as Emily Blunt and her husband, John Krasinski.
LJ Reyes and Philip Evangelista
LJ Reyes and Philip Evangelista got married at The Beavin House in East Hampton, New York and had a dreamy reception.
LJ's daughter, Summer, served as the most adorable flower girl, while her son, Aki, assisted their tutu-wearing dog down the aisle.
Maxine Medina and Timmy Llana tied the knot in two ceremonies: one at a church to respect their parents' wishes and another at a dreamy beach wedding in Coron, Palawan.

Lexi Fernandez and Harry Cordingley also had an intimate wedding ceremony held in Exeter, Devon in the United Kingdom.
Lexi shared the exciting news by posting a photo from the special day, taken by no less than her mom, Maritoni Fernandez.
Janeena Chan's December wedding with Morgan Say easily became the talk of the town with their mesmerizing Christmas-themed ceremony and reception.
Wearing a red lip, Janeena looked elegant in a corseted wedding gown, while Morgan looked dashing in a white tuxedo.
Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker
In the same month, Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker got married at a ceremony in Tulum, Mexico.
The couple first sparked dating rumors in 2020 after being spotted holding hands in Los Angeles. In February, Vanessa and Cole announced their engagement.
A day after sharing the news that she was getting married, Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up Venus Raj tied the knot with her non-showbiz fiancé, North Orillan.
Venus wore a classic white gown with a straight across neckline, while North donned a light-colored suit and bow tie set.
Engagements: Samantha Bernardo and Scott Moore
Miss Grand International 2020 first runner-up Samantha Bernardo and Scott Moore announced their engagement in February with beautiful portraits of themselves and Samantha's new ring.
The engaged couple has been together for quite some time now, celebrating their anniversary as a couple every September.
Catriona Gray and Sam Milby surprised their fans and followers with an engagement photo in the same month.
After the announcement, Catriona said that they are planning to tie the knot sometime in 2024, saying she just wants to "enjoy this season."
Laureen Uy announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Miggy Cruz, with a Wes Anderson-inspired Instagram Reel.
"'Let's shoot a Wes Anderson reel,' he said. Little did I know this was really the plan," Laureen said. "I said yes."
Dominic Roque's proposal to Bea Alonzo made her realize that her real reaction was far different from proposal scenes she did in her acting career.
