Ice Seguerra on same-sex couples: 'It's so weird that business partners have more rights'

Ice Seguerra continues to hope that same-sex couples will someday get to enjoy the same rights afforded to heterosexual couples.

On Tuesday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Ice said that he and his wife, Liza Diño, often talk about it.

"Laging merong pain na kasama kasi 'yun nga eh, we've built a life together, and it's so weird that business partners have more rights than couples like us na pareho naman, 'di ba? Pareho naman kaming nagbabayad sa bahay," he said.

Ice said that they respect the church so much, so they are not asking to be wed on one.

"But I think it's also important for the state to recognize the rights that couples like us exist. Hindi puwedeng dahil sa mga beliefs eh iiisang tabi n'yo 'yung karapatan din ng marami sa atin," he said.

Ice also admitted that he finds it difficult to tick off the "single" marital status on forms.

"Nakakaiyak siya," Ice said. "Hindi ako single eh. Alam ko may asawa ako eh. Bakit kailangang single ko i-tick?"

"Doon ko lang din na-realize na ang swerte ng mga heterosexual couples na sometimes they even take it for granted," he added. "For people like us, na wala 'yung ganoong karapatan, it means so much."

Ice and Liza got married in California in 2014.

On last year's Father's Day, Ice received a touching message from Liza's daughter, Amara.

"Thank you for being with me [through] everything. I'm so proud to be your daughter," Amara said.
