Selena Gomez reveals she can't carry her own children, admits she 'grieved for a while'

Selena Gomez has opened up about being unable to carry her own children.

The singer and actress, who revealed battling lupus in 2015, made the revelation in an interview with Vanity Fair.

"I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children," she said.

"I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while," she added.

However, she said there are other ways for her to become a mother.

"It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone," she said.

"I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me. It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby," she added.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease, which causes the body's immune system to attack healthy tissues and organs.

Selena has also previously opened up about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Currently, Selena is in a relationship with producer Benny Blanco, who she collaborated with in the 2015 song "Same Old Love," and the slinky 2019 song "I Can’t Get Enough," featuring Tainy and J Balvin.

Earlier this week, she was reported to have reached billionaire status. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
