How AiAi delas Alas told son Andrei he was adopted

AiAi delas Alas is among the list of celebrities who have adopted children.

On the latest episode of Boy Abunda's "My Mother, My Story" on October 27, the Comedy Queen talked about how she told her son Andrei that he was adopted.

"Noong sinabi ko kay Andrei na adopted na siya, sobrang thankful ako. Sinabi kasi 'nung doktor niya, 'nung pedia niya, 'Alam ba ni Andrei?" Sabi ko hindi. 'Ilan taon na si Andrei?' Siguro mga five siya 'non or four, ganyan. [Sabi ng pedia niya] 'Sabihin mo na habang maaga pa," she recalled.

According to the comedienne, their family was in Subic when she decided to tell the truth to his son.

"Sabi ko, 'anak may sasabihin ako. 'Di ba sina kuya, si ate, 'di ba baby ko sila? Baby ko sila galing sa tiyan ko. Ikaw, baby kita. Galing ka kay God sa heaven. Sabi ko pa, 'tsaka mahal na mahal kita kahit doon ka galing. 'Yung parents mo, hindi ko kilala.' Mga ganyan," AiAi said.

Looking back to that day, Aiai saw how Andrei's face lightened up, and proceeded to thank her and his adopted siblings.

"Lumiwanag 'yung mukha niya as in. Ang saya-saya ko. Tapos niyakap niya kami, 'Thank you. Thank you, mama, ate.' Tapos nag-iyakan kami. 'We love you Andrei, we love you much," she said.

In the interview, Aiai also shared what led her to adopting Andrei.

"Kasi noong mga panahon na 'yon, parang gusto kong may baby sa bahay kasi malalaki na 'yung mga bata. Tapos ayun dumating na nga si Andrei," she said. 

Before adopting the child, Aiai had to refuse the adopting Andrei three times as she was busy in her career.

"Until parang nahiya ako sa Panginoon. Iyong ika-third, parang kunin mo na 'to. Tapos nagkaroon kami ng communication na basta dadalhin n'yo sa akin, hindi ako ang kukuha kasi baka mamaya paratangan niya akong kidnapper," she said.

Aside from Seth Andrei, AiAi has three children from his previous relationships: Sancho Vito, Sophia and Sean Nicolo.

In the same interview, Sancho and her on-screen son Jiro Manio surprised her and Tito Boy with cake and gifts for her birthday.

She has been married to Gerald Sibayan since 2017. In 2022, the couple renewed their vows in Las Vegas.

AiAi is currently one of the judges of the Kapuso singing competition "The Clash" alongside Lani Misalucha and Christian Bautista.
