Lotlot de Leon writes letter for Nora Aunor: ‘We promise to take care of your legacy’
Lotlot de Leon wrote a touching letter for her late mother, Nora Aunor, on Instagram, along with a childhood photo that shows the Superstar carrying her.
According to the actress, she finds herself "talking to you every day...at alam ko, nakikinig ka (and I know you are listening."
Lotlot said she had already told Nora everything, “at alam ko din na ang bilin mo sa akin ay ang mga kapatid ko at mga apo mo (And I know your last wish for me are my siblings and your grandkids).”
She added, “‘Yung tinuro mo sa akin na maging matatag sinusubukan ko po talagang gawin (I will try to do what you taught me about being strong).”
Lotlot also told her mother that a lot of people love her and showed up for their family, which she hopes Nora knows.
Lotlot also asked Nora to always look after them.
“Alam ko hindi mo kami pababayaan sa bawat desision na gagawin naming magkakapatid. At lalo pa kami nagkakaisa dahil sa 'yo,” Lotlot said.
(I know you will continue to guide us in ever decision that we will make. We are more united because of you.)
“And we promise to take care of your legacy, Ma, kami ng mga kapatid ko,” she added.
Nora passed away on April 16 at 71. According to her son Ian De Leon, she died of acute respiratory failure.
She had a necrological funeral service at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila on Tuesday, and was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani thereafter.
Nora, as well as Pilita Corrales, Gloria Romero, and Margarita Fores will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit with a ceremony on May 4. It is one of the highest awards conferred by a Philippine president to individuals in recognition of their contribution to nation-building.
