Emman Atienza defends family, sets the record straight about financial means: 'My mom is the breadwinner'

Emman Atienza has set the record straight about their financial means, saying it's her mom, Felicia Atienza, who is her immediate family's bread winner.

In a TikTok video posted over the weekend, the Sparkle talent began by looking back at the previous guess the bill controversy. According to Emman, there was a lot of misinformation about her that spread back then, including "that my lifestyle, my schooling, my house, my travels, my clothing etc, are funded by politicians, are funded by government, are funded by corruption."

While Emman admitted her father's side is in politics — her paternal grandfather is former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza, for one — she revealed it was her mom who is actually the breadwinner of her immediate family.

"I wanna make it so clear that my immediate family...do not get financial support of any means from that side of the family," Emman said.

"My mom is the breadwinner, she brings home the money and her family is not in any way, shape, or form related to politicians," she added.

According to Emman, her mom came from a Taiwanese family, studied hard and went to an Ivy League University, "became a stockbroker and invested in a bunch of different things."

"My dad has been in entertainment on TV, for decades for years," she continued.

For good measure, Emman repeated "for years we do not get financial support from any of my extended family."

Emman's video comes as a reply to a TikTok user who accused the celebrity of "romanticizing the idea of 'rich but humble'" amid the ongoing conversation involving other influencers with questionable wealth.

The conversation has prompted Gabbi Garcia to celebrate "self-made queens" while content creator Camille Co issued a statement after she was mistakenly tagged on social media.
