'Becoming Filipino' vlogger Kyle Jennermann reveals wife suffered a miscarriage

Kyle “Kulas” Jennermann, the vlogger behind “Becoming Filipino,” revealed that his wife Catherine suffered a miscarriage.

On Facebook, the vlogger shared photos of Catherine with a baby bump and said that they tragically lost their baby.

They found out when they went to the doctor for Catherine’s third ultrasound, expecting to see their 12-week-old baby.

“It was supposed to be the day we share that we were expecting... but that never happened,” Kyle said. “We are beyond devastated.  Our baby's heartbeat was gone.”

Kyle said it has been “hardest, saddest, and most difficult week of our lives... nothing in life prepares you for this.”

“The joy of hearing our baby at eight weeks with that beautiful heartbeat.  The love that we shared planning life together as a family.  In just a moment... everything was taken away.  It is the most crushing feeling typing this right now,” Kyle said.

He added that they are grieving and have become numb.

“Things trigger intense moments of emotion.  We are not okay... but we will be.  We will be, because never in our lives have we felt what we felt the past twelve weeks... The love that baby brought us.  The moments of happiness with family and friends.  The togetherness we shared,” he said.

Kyle said that they remain grateful because getting pregnant is still a blessing.

He thanked everyone on their journey including the medical professionals who helped them.

The vlogger also shared a message for “Baby J.”

“We love you so much. We love you so so so much. We will always pray for you... we will always love you. Thank you for being a part of our lives,” he said.

Kyle and Catherine got married in 2024.

Kyle became a naturalized Filipino citizen in 2023.

With more than 1 million YouTube subscribers, “Becoming Filipino” follows Kyle’s adventures in the Philippines as he immerses in the culture. This includes swimming in different islands, trying exotic food, and even dancing budots and playing street basketball. Kyle is also fluent in Tagalog.
