Carlos Yulo admits trying to buy an engagement ring for Chloe San Jose

It seems that Carlos Yulo and Chloe San Jose are already actively thinking of marriage.

In an interview on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Monday, the two-time Olympic gold medalist and Filipino gymnast said that he tried buying Chloe an engagement ring in 2023.

"Tinry ko po actually, pero hindi po talaga ako nakabili," Carlos said.

"Tinry ko sa Japan bumili, tinry ko rin sa Singapore bumili. Pero ewan ko, parang hindi sumasang-ayon po sa 'kin 'yung mundo at that time," he added.

Chloe said that part of the reason why Carlos did not push through with the purchase was because she accidentally found out that he was reserving a ring.

"Eh kasi po nag-notif sa email niya, so then hindi ko naman po sinasadya," she said.

"Nakita ko po nag-notif na reservation for a ring, ganyan-ganyan," Chloe added. "So of course, I had to tell him because we're super open. And of course, the surprise na rin, mawawala na. I don't also want to lie about it naman or act surprised na kasi syempre, mawawala 'yung magic."

Carlos said he is still looking forward to buying that ring. Chloe also said she would say yes to marrying him.

Meanwhile, Carlos and Chloe agree that getting married does not need blessing from the family, as it is up to the couple tying the knot.

"As long as tayong dalawa nagkakaintindihan," Carlos said.

"I feel like it would get complicated kapag there's too many people getting involved," Chloe said. "And I feel like po if you have the right circle, they wouldn't make you feel that way, to have to consider them and not to consider. It's a safe space po kasi."

Carlos and Chloe have been together since 2020.
