Inside this couple's dreamy wedding at the National Museum of the Philippines
Vernon Huibonhoa and Christina Cruz recently tied the knot at the San Agustin Church in Intramuros, and had their wedding reception at the National Museum of Natural History, making the milestone even more memorable.
In a short exchange with GMA News Online, Christina said she and Vernon “have always been patrons of the arts.”
“Wherever we travel, we make it a point to squeeze in one or two museums,” she said. “We love the feeling of being inside museum halls enclosed by walls adorned with artworks.”
According to the bride, the National Museum of Natural History was their top-of-mind choice because, as a couple, they are drawn to museums with interesting architecture.
“There is so much to love about it, from its marble foyer where a towering dinosaur skeleton greets you to the huge dome that lets light seep in in the most beautiful way,” she said.
“And of course, the art itself,” she added.
“Most of all, we love how the museum, despite its grandeur, makes us feel part of something larger than ourselves.”
Among their wedding guests include First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, Department of Education secretary Sonny Angara, Senator Loren Legarda, Tessie Sy Coson, Ramon Ang, Ana Lorenzana De Ocampo, Kevin Tan, and Rikki Dee, to name a few.
Vernon is a photographer and the son of the Honorary Consul of Gambia, Agnes Huibonhia, while Christina is a licensed psychologist.
Holding wedding receptions at the National Museum isn't new. In 2023, Dominique Cojuangco and Michael Hearn also held their wedding reception at the National Museum of Natural History.
According to the website of the National Museum of the Philippines, the venue is open for location shoots and venue rentals.
For shoots, a P5,000 fee per scheduled session must be paid. For venue rentals, a security deposit of P25,000 must be paid on top of the venue rental fee, which varies depending on the size of the event and the part of the museum to be used. — LA, GMA News
