Jeric Gonzales says he's happy for ex Rabiya Mateo

Jeric Gonzales has nothing but well wishes for former girlfriend Rabiya Mateo, who is now in a relationship with Jake Cuenca.

In his Thursday guesting in “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” with fellow “Protege” Season 2 winner Thea Tolentino, the Kapuso star shared his reaction upon learning that Rabiya had found a new partner.

"Honestly, I don't know what to feel. It felt awkward. Your ex has already found someone new. I guess that's just how it feels," he said in Filipino.

Despite his initial reaction, Jeric said he eventually realized he should simply be happy for Rabiya.

"I realized that I should be happy for her. We ended on good terms. We're friends—not very close friends—but we're okay. We can reach out to each other if needed. So I still wish her all the best," he added.

Asked whether he and Rabiya still communicate, he replied, "No," but clarified that there is no animosity between them.

Jeric also said he plans to take the nursing board examination and possibly pursue further studies in either culinary arts or medicine.

In the same interview, the Sparkle artist addressed the rumors linking him to a lady producer he didn’t name.

"Tito Boy, this is the first time I'm speaking about this. But it's not true. Our producer is a family-oriented and very private person. She's my producer, so our relationship is purely professional," he said, adding speculations stemmed from a viral video that was misinterpreted.

"Someone happened to record us, and it was misinterpreted. In the video, I was singing and she appeared to be hugging me. She was simply happy and enjoying the moment," he said.

According to Jeric, he is currently single.

Jeric and Rabiya confirmed they were dating in March 2022, and had an on-again off-again relationship until September 2025, when Rabiya confirmed she was single.

It was Jake who confirmed his relationship with Rabiya in a “Fast Talk” interview back in May. — LA, GMA News
