Flow chefs say One Michelin Star recognition is 'mind-blowing'
Flow chefs Gabriel “Gato” Co and Kevin Jonathan Uy said they were in disbelief after their restaurant received a One Michelin Star.
The Makati restaurant was the only newcomer to receive a One Michelin Star in the 2027 edition of the Philippine guide.
“Quite honestly, we're in shock. With all of the amazing, amazing restaurants that opened up and all of the amazing restaurants that exist here in the Philippines, being the only restaurant to receive a One Michelin Star is absolutely mind-blowing,” Uy told GMA News Online.
“But it is in no way indicative of the level of talent that the other restaurants have. They are absolutely fantastic and we are so happy,” he added.
Co, meanwhile, described the recognition as an honor.
“It's an honor to be part of that,” he said.
Asked about the significance of the recognition for a relatively young restaurant, Uy said the award was particularly meaningful for their team.
“For us, it's quite important that we're doing something right, but it's more important for our team because it just proves that every day was worth it for them,” he said.
The Michelin Guide Ceremony: Manila and Environs & Cebu 2027 was held Thursday night at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts.
Aside from Flow, the restaurants awarded One Michelin Star were Gallery by Chele, Toyo Eatery, Hapag, Kasa Palma, Linamnam, Asador Alfonso, Celera, and Inato.
Meanwhile, Helm by Chef Josh Boutwood retained its Two Michelin Star distinction.
