Halal cuisine, Muslim culture on display at Ramadhan International Bazaar

Muslims and non-Muslims alike can get a taste of authentic halal cuisine and Muslim culture at the first Ramadhan International Bazaar, which runs from dusk to midnight at Mercato Centrale located at the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street in Bonifacio Global City.

 

The bazaar, which coincides with the worldwide observation by Muslims of Ramadan as a month of fasting, has food stalls and non-food exhibits that feature Islamic culture from the East-Mid-West. The bazaar opened last June 7 and will run until August 3.

 

Muslim Filipinos and foreign Muslims can break their 12-hour daily fast with a daily halal buffet featuring food cooked on site. Air-conditioned prayer areas are also available for Muslims.

 

But non-Muslims are also invited to partake in the bazaar, which features food such as honey chicken -- a delicacy featured in the Midnight Express segment on "Saksi" on Monday.

 

According to the official Facebook page of the event, five percent of the sales from the event "will proceed to the less privileged and orphans through the feeding and charity programs of the organizers in partnership with Islamic Embassies." - JST, GMA News
