Mik-Mik Mousse, anyone? Favorite childhood sweets feature in bake shop’s cakes
A bakery on famous QC food hub Maginhawa Street is offering nostalgia as well as innovation in its cakes.
The Baker's Table takes the inexpensive treats you enjoyed as a kid—such as Butterball candies or Mik-Mik milk powder—and puts them in its cakes for a delicious blast from the past.
"Food ay yung greatest link sa past mo, yung normally pag may naaamoy ka, natitikman ka, nakikita ka na pagkain na kinasanayan mo nung bata ka, automatically naiisip mo yung pagkabata mo, " The Baker's Table chef Jonathan Paul Em said in a report on Balitanghali.
For the Butterball Caramel Cake, for instance, the bakery crushes and melts the candy to use in the recipe. And if you order the Mik-Mik Mousse, you get some free Mik-Mik milk powder as well.
