Dragon Ball Café opens in Japan for franchise’s 30th anniversary

Looks like fans of Akira Toriyama’s sensational and epic Dragon Ball franchise are going to have a good reason to go to Japan, as publisher Shueisha and Tower Records have partnered to open three Dragon-Ball themed cafes: in Tokyo, Osaka, and Shibuya.

Featuring food and drinks named after the popular series' characters, the three Dragon Ball cafes are part of the franchise’s marketing push to promote the 30th anniversary of the series, which includes the immensely popular TV series.

The cafes will also sell Dragon Ball-related merchandise, and comes just in time for the currently ongoing series “Dragon Ball Super,” a direct sequel to Dragon Ball Z that features Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and the rest of the gang continuing their martial arts adventures that span time, space, and beyond.

The food names in particular will be familiar to longtime fans, with selections such as Yamcha’s Spaghetti, Vegeta Salad, and even a drink called Goku’s Flying Nimbus Cloud.

All Dragon Ball cafes will run until November 30 only, so better get your Flying Nimbus Cloud or Instant Transmission budgets rolling to Japan! — BM, GMA News
