4 ways to spice up your rice


You can’t take rice away from the Pinoy diet, but you can make the most out of the Filipino staple by adding in a different flavor and giving it the right food pairing.

Rice is undoubtedly essential for many Filipinos, with a lot of dishes having the food crop as the main ingredient—whether it’s a full meal or a snack. Nothing, however, beats eating a cup of hot rice with the perfect ulam to go with it.

Easy Garlic Fried Rice

Mornings feel better when they have garlic fried rice to offer.
A flavorful plate of rice for breakfast won’t hurt, especially when you partner it with extra crispy corned beef!

2 tablespoons cooking oil
4 cups rice, cooked
2 tbsp garlic, minced
1 pack -7 grams AJI-GINISA® Flavor Seasoning Mix
1 teaspoon Soy Sauce

PROCEDURE:

  1. In a pan heat oil and brown the garlic
  2. Add cooked rice and continue stir-frying
  3. Sprinkle 1 pack AJI-GINISA® Flavor Seasoning Mix and mix well.
  4. Add soy sauce to taste.
  5. Serve hot

Makes 8 servings (½ cup per serving)

 
Chinese Style Fried Rice

 

If you’re a fan of Chinese cuisine, you probably already tried Chinese Style Fried Rice. For those not yet familiar with the dish, consider it as an upgraded version of Garlic Fried Rice because of its rich toppings that involve longganisa, ham, and eggs.

2 tablespoons cooking oil
2 tablespoons onions, finely chopped
1 tablespoon garlic,finely chopped
2 pieces longganisa/chorizo, diced
¼ cup sweet ham, diced
3 pieces eggs, beaten
3 cups rice, cooked
1/3 cup green peas, frozen
1 pack -7 grams AJI-GINISA® Flavor Seasoning Mix

PROCEDURE:

  1. In a pan, heat oil. Stir fry onion and garlic until fragrant.
  2. Saute’ longganisa followed by sweet ham until   crispy.
  3. Add beaten eggs and continue cooking.
  4. Add cooked rice and blend well with other ingredients.
  5. Add green peas.
  6. Sprinkle AJI-GINISA® Flavor Seasoning Mix and mix well.
  7. Serve hot

Makes 8-10 servings (½ cup per serving)

This dish requires several ingredients, but it can make you even fuller. Chinese Fried Rice is best eaten with lumpiang shanghai.

 

Vegetable Fried Rice

Looking for a healthier way to eat rice? Vegetable Fried Rice should be perfect for you. This recipe is perfect for including greens in your diet. Top this dish with an equally healthy ulam like vegetable dumplings.

2 tablespoons cooking oil
¼ cup garlic, minced
¼ cup sweet ham, diced
1 piece egg, beaten
3 cups rice, cooked
¼ cup carrots,minced
¼ cup green peas, frozen
1 tablespoon spring onions, chopped
1 pack – 7 grams Ajinomoto Ginisa Flavor Mix

PROCEDURE:

  1. In a pan, heat oil. Stir fry garlic until slightly brown and fragrant.
  2. Sauté sweet ham until   crispy, add beaten eggs.
  3. Add cooked rice and blend well with other ingredients.
  4. Add carrots, green peas and spring onions.
  5. Sprinkle AJI-GINISA® Flavor Seasoning Mix and mix well.
  6. Serve hot

Makes 8-10 servings (½ cup per serving)

Egg Fried Rice

2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 piece egg,beaten
4 cups rice, cooked

1 teaspoon Soy Sauce

PROCEDURE:

  1. In a pan heat oil and fry beaten eggs
  2. In the same pan, add cooked rice and mix well with the eggs.
  3. Sprinkle AJI-GINISA® Flavor Seasoning Mix and mix well.
  4. Add soy sauce to taste.
  5. Serve hot

Makes 8 servings (½ cup per serving)

Egg Fried Rice can be a standalone dish already, but if that’s not enough for you, you can eat fried tapa doused with vinegar with it.
