Beeffalo by Hotrocks: Marikina's original is now Little Baguio’s favorite secret family restaurant

Beeffalo by Hotrocks is Little Baguio's brand spankin' new restaurant. It's only been in operation for three months, but patrons who have discovered their location en route to school or work have been happily indulging in Beeffalo's American favorites. From a plate of ribs marinated in special sauce, or perfectly grilled salmon, or crispy thin pizza, there’s something for every taste in the family.

Nestled in the middle of a residential area and unassumingly located beside a car wash, Beeffalo is like a mirage, a pit stop for hungry families and passersby to relax and eat heartily.

The location is much like their other branch in Marikina—all-American comfort food for groups and families to love. “We enjoyed grilling in our backyard. Aside from family members, our friends would often join us. That gave me an idea, so I looked for a place,” Louie Abad, Beeffalo’s General Manager shares. The San Juan branch, while much smaller than their sprawling Marikina location, is quaint enough to accommodate 50 persons, plus a small function room for eight persons.

For the new San Juan restaurant, Beeffalo streamlined its menu to include popular dishes from their Marikina branch, plus a few new ones to cater to its surrounding target market.

Be ready to spend around P350 per head; servings are good for two, so two entrees to share with the family should be cool.

One differentiating factor for the San Juan location? “We’ve recently experimented on making the dishes more ‘Instagramable’—fixing the plating to tailor fit it to social media nowadays,” says Louie. His wife, Girlie Cosio-Abad, serves as Beeffalo’s executive chef.

“Girlie loves to host dinners and cook for her large brood that likes to eat good food. She applied her knack for what tastes good and her natural cooking prowess for Hotrocks, and eventually, Beeffalo.”
