3 science-themed restaurants that are as fun as they are delicious

If you're not particularly keen on Science, well, allow these three science-themed restaurants to change your minds.

Unang Hirit on Monday dished out three restaurants getting that Science theme down pat. From interiors, to menu design, and even to naming their menu items, they have it down pat.

1. Café Medic

Afraid of the hospital? Café Medic in Antipolo will make you change your mind. From first aid kits that hold the condiments, to wheel chair and pediatric bed seating options, the restaurant will replace horrible hospital memories into fun ones.

“Most people are scared of hospitals. So this time, we made it the approachable view of the café. They can pretend to be a doctor and cure themselves,” says the Café Medic owner, Dr. Maria Armela Tarriela-De Guzman.

Listen to café Medic’s best sellers: Toxic Spaghetti with Fried Chicken (P118), Beef Hematoma Tapa (P110), and Triple By-pass Cheese (P235). Fun, yes?

SM Cherry, Antipolo Rizal. +639175963532

2. Chemistea

At Chemistea, you’ll definitely feel like a chemist. They serve a variety of drinks – mostly teas – in beakers and lab flasks, making you feel as though you were in a middle of a chemistry class.

And what’s a chem class without experiments? If none of the variety of tea-based drinks entices you, Chemistea encourages guests to become a ‘scienteast’ and choose to order an “Experiment”, instead.

That’s the item in the menu that allows guests to customize their drinks according to their capricho – choose the tea base, syrup, and particles and make your own!

According to Chemistea owner Jessica Koa, these add-ons are even served in test tubes, keeping up with the theme.

Chemistea has two locations in Metro Manila: 2/F Legacy Bldg 44 Shorthorn St., Project 8, QC, 1/F Fusebox Bldg., 1254 Asturias St., Laon Laan Sampaloc, Manila

3. Bubba Lab

A beverage spot that’ll have you rethinking science? Check out Bubba Lab, a neighborhood café that proudly calls itself Third Wave. While tea is its main jam, there are juices, coffee-based beverages and food.

How will it make you rethink science? Upon entrance, guests will be greeted by the wait staff in lab gowns. The menu is laid out like the periodic table of elements. Drinks are served in beakers, while snacks are severed in a funnel.

Are you feeling it yet? Hold on: It calls its sausage platter the Labcuterie (P270), the hotdog, the Labdog (P135), and the red velvet cake, a Grid Cake (P85).

Bubba Lab is now in three locations in Metro Manila. Website
