What is 'Linutlot'? It is Malabon's traditional cooking style using bamboo

In the early days of Malabon, the city was surrounded by bamboo that it became a vital part in people's lives: in their architecture, as tools, and even in their cooking.

Bamboo became so integral in Malabon kitchens that the city developed a traditional style of cooking, using bamboos. They called it "limutlot."

In an episode of Pinas Sarap, Dian Crisostomo of Belly's Restaurant showed Kara David how "linutlot" cooking is done.

She places all the ingredients inside the bamboo, closed it with a bamboo lid, and grilled everything with charcoal for 10-15 minutes.

Dian said the "linutlot" method is similar to cooking with a "pressure cooker."
